Forest School Programs

Join us once a week as we take your student on an engaging adventure, exploring different locations throughout the Wasatch Mountains. This program is designed to provide a unique and valuable educational experience through hands-on learning and discovery using imagination and play. We use a child-led, interest based approach to education as we learn about nature, animal and plants, survival skills, shelters, fires and more! Through this program students learn resilience, confidence, and the skill of endurance and appreciation for nature in all weather! This is a 100% outdoor program. We offer both drop off and parent accompanied options.

Our program meets from 10am - 3pm, this entire day outdoors hiking and learning and playing gives unique, uninterrupted time for students to push through their initial feelings of discomfort or uncertainty, set up playscapes and dive deep into hands-on craftsmanship, learning, problem solving  and imaginary play! We are passionate about re-wilding and grounding these kids with their natural love of learning and nature.

A key focus is on bushcraft and survival skills, where students learn crucial techniques such as shelter building, fire starting, navigation, and water purification. Click here to see an example of our Forest Friday's look like! Check in - We'll take a moment to check in with each child and parent. This gives them a chance to express interests, hopes, excitment, and mood for the day. This is also a perfect time for a gear check. Hike and explore - We hike and explore at our own pace. Some days we may actually get to the "destination", and other days, we may just find too many cool things along the way, and only make it only a quarter mile. Our facilitators are trained to expand on natural teaching moments along the way, and just exemplify the love of nature. Lunch - Finding the perfect lunch spot is always a highlight, and makes it worth it packing the extra weight in their packs. We enjoy a healthy meal together, enjoying the natural realease of dopamine. There is definitely a reason why food tastes better outside! Reading stories, exploring and discovering what is around us, playing games, and using imagination, are an every day part of Forest Fridays here! Pick up is back at trail head at 3:30

What safety precautions do you take for each experience? We don't leave the trailhead without the emergency essentials and a little safety training. We hand out special safety whistles and go over the instructions EVERY time, so the kids have the protocol memorized. We also always bring a first aid kit and satelite communication with a direct line to parents and emergency services. What happens when the kids need to go potty? This has gone really well actually. Most trail heads have a portapotty of some sorts. As we get into the mountains further, we use a little pop up tent with no floor for privacy, and a small toilet seat. Our female staff are there to help if needed with direct supervision of another staff.
