Welcome to SkyRiver Outdoor Schools! We see the value of learning outdoors in fresh air, through curiosity, imagination, and exploration.

Our Story

We are Paige and Kyle Loveridge.  Starting as kindergarten sweethearts, now trying to raise babies together, we are constantly trying to piece together a life for our kids that is as beautiful and simple as our childhood was blessed to be!  Through all our searching, and experimenting, and trying to listen to our gut instincts, we feel such an amazing call to create something new! We are  creating a learning environment and life that is challenging, healthier, and happier, and we want to bring this lifestyle to your family too!

Our call to bring this micro school to life started with a serious need to reconnect as a family. 

After we both graduated from University, all while having babies and over-extending internships and jobs, we realized that what we wanted to most was more time connecting together and relying on each other!

   So we decided to shake things up in a big way!  We rented out our cute little comfy house in Utah and moved to the most uncomfortable and adventurous place we could think of…..North Pole, Alaska!

There are a million and one things that we learned from the people, the land, the experiences, & the trials in Alaska.  But some of the biggest things were:

1. There are so many "right" ways to do things, and man is it fun when you discover people doing things differently than you!

2. If we want things to be different, we need to be brave enough to ACT differently.

For us this often meant finding ourselves in uncomfortable and difficult situations, that ended up being better experiences than we could have ever imagined! We were done waiting for our life to turn out the way we dreamed about. We started living ON PURPOSE.

This time in our lives, of unconventional living, was our wake up call and realization that we can actually do things, make plans, shake it up, take control, and LIVE!

 

There was a whole other spectrum of life that we had been avoiding because it was physically, mentally, or socially uncomfortable. 

Turns out, life is better when you are ok with being too cold, or too hot, too messy, too friendly, too kind, too too risky,  or too unconventional.  

    What really helped us with this new attitude was surrounding ourselves with like-minded people and a community that exemplified living bravely, and doing things their own way! 

    We ate better, lived with less ‘things’, spent way more time together, and dragged our kids into the woods every day.  Turns out, kids function better outside! They can nap, eat, play, socialize, and learn on a totally different level when we let ourselves exist outside our typical, insulated comfort zone!

   We saw our relationships, our attitutes, and our  happiness start improving drastically!

 Since then, it has been so cool to really dig into the science, explaining what, how, and why these changes were happening to our kids.

Because we have seen the absolute magic that is kids learning through playing outside and the subsequent mental and emotional benefits, we feel unapologetically called to this cause.

. We love seeing kids thrive and grow in the outdoors, and at thier own pace.

Our goal is to share this way of learning,o create this community where kids and families can really thrive together.
