Our Campfire Story
On a mission to Re-Wild and ReconnectÂ
Meet Kyle and Paige. Our story began in kindergarten, where our lifelong bond was forged through games of kissing tag on the playground.
Â
We both share a deep gratitude for our own upbringings—childhoods rooted in simplicity and the great outdoors. Kyle’s early years were spent on a small farm alongside cows, chickens, and dogs, while Paige grew up with a pet goat and regularly drove herself to school on a tractor.
Â
This connection to the land with space and freedom is a part of who we are.
Â
Following our marriage, life quickly became a whirlwind of university studies and work schedules. We found ourselves squeezing in camping and hunting trips just to breathe.
Â
However, after the birth of our second child, we felt a profound calling for a slower, more intentional pace of life.
Â
This search for meaning led us to a life-changing pivot: Alaska.
Â
While Paige served as a dental hygienist in remote regions, Kyle and the children spent their days fully immersed in the Alaskan wilderness. They explored hidden trails, tapped trees for syrup, and watched moose from a safe distance.
Â
Our children spent their afternoons napping in hammocks by the river while the dog played in the water.
Â
From chasing the northern lights to dog sledding and ice skating, we embraced the 'Land of the Midnight Sun' and witnessed the true power of nature-based living.
Â
It was there that we discovered our first outdoor school, watching young children learn to thrive and play comfortably even in sub-zero temperatures.
Â
This experience transformed our perspective on education and the seasons. Returning home to Utah, we were inspired to create a space where families could rediscover this same magic through an all-weather, outdoor program.
Â
Today, as we stand in the forest surrounded by the happy sounds of children at play, we often find ourselves in awe that this is our life’s work. We are living our dream by providing your children with a safe, nurturing environment where they can grow, explore, and simply be kids in the wild.
Our Compass in
the Woods
We believe that direct experience in nature is essential for a child's development. Our philosophy is built on three pillars: experiential learning, fostering community, and environmental stewardship. We empower students to ask questions, solve problems, and become confident caretakers of our world.
